Elevating your life…
Over the last few weeks, I’ve introduced you to some philosophies and small activities that will elevate you in all areas of your life.
Have you noticed a pattern in them? A common theme in each of these posts?
It’s that the secret to feeling more in control of your life…the secret to living your best life and experiencing higher levels of peace, happiness, fulfilment and meaning is contained in your daily habits.
Yes, your habits are THAT powerful! You might be surprised by the simplicity of this answer but believe it or not, the little things that you do or don’t do each day either limit or launch you in life.
Your daily habits shape who you are, how you feel, and where you are headed. Everything you do is triggered by either a good habit or a bad habit. Your habits impact the direction of your entire life.
Living your best life…
Initially, it sounds like a simple answer but the problem is modern-day life is more busy and chaotic than ever. We’re driven for progress, blinded by perfectionism and we hold ourselves to the highest possible standards.
We’re so busy trying to ‘do it all‘, please everyone around us and be successful that the thought of caring for ourselves, or doing what we know will make us feel unstoppable makes us feel guilty. As a result, we fail to make ourselves a priority in the way that best serves everyone around us.
But, to be the best you can, to give the very best of you and live your very best life, you need to be a priority in your life.
I’m not talking about making huge time commitments. I’m talking about finding the little things, that if you don’t do them, make you feel off your game.
Discover your personal game-changing habits. The habits that make you feel grounded, energized, and like you have superpowers. Once you find them, it’s about making them part of your daily routine so that over time you perform them as automatically as brushing your teeth.
Feeling in control of your life…
Developing these habits is the secret to living your best life and feeling more in control of your life. Truthfully, I don’t think I would be here today if it were not for my daily habits.
I know it might sound extreme, but there have been so many times in my life when it felt like the world was crumbling around me. Times when I wasn’t sure if I would make it through. I say the blessing and the curse that comes out of a cancer diagnosis is that you have a whole new appreciation for life. So somewhere along the way, I think I refused to crumble.
But that doesn’t mean I didn’t struggle or feel completely hopeless.
Sadly, we will all face tough times in life. Times, when we struggle, feel like we can’t keep up, or that all hope is gone. And while we cannot control the uncontrollable, we can control the way we prepare for that unknown.
You do this by being proactive with the habits that strengthen you from the inside out. The habits that help you master your mindset and energize you. The habits that help you stand steadfast in your resolve to thrive in life – regardless of what comes your way.
This is the foundation of everything in your life.
So what are the best habits?
Finding the best habits takes time and experimentation. Why? Because you have to try them out to see which ones are most effective for you. Everyone is wired differently so some habits may work wonders for you and flop for others.
To start, you want to incorporate new habits into your life for at least 21 days and pay attention to how you feel. The habits that energize you, that make you feel grounded and connected are your superpower habits.
