A Christmas LESS stressed…
Whenever I ask the members of the A Simple and Contented Life community what their most stressful time of the year is, guess what comes out top of the list? That’s right, Christmas!
And it’s not hard to see why.
The list of all that needs doing to make Christmas happen is a mile long. Not only do we have to decide what gifts to give everyone but we have to find the time to go shopping, buy everything and wrap it all too. We also have to figure out what to eat when, decorate the tree, fill all the stockings and buy presents for the teachers too.
Then there’s visits to Santa, the school Christmas nativity, Christmas parties and splitting our time between all the relatives…which can be a stressful task in itself! The list goes on…and on…AND ON!!
With so much to plan, organise and do, it’s hardly surprising that Christmas is one of the most stressful times of the year. Come, Christmas Eve, we’re so busy worrying about whether we’ve done everything and whether we’ve forgotten something, that we’re too shattered to actually enjoy it.
But do you know what?
It doesn’t have to be that way! It is possible to make Christmas LESS stressful and MORE enjoyable. And I’m going to show you how.
Over the years I’ve tried and tested various ways to get organised for Christmas in a bid to find one that doesn’t leave me feeling stressed and exhausted before the holidays have even started. One where I’m able to enjoy the mince pies and mulled wine along with everyone else because everything has already been taken care of.
And after much trial and error, I’ve finally found a system that works. And this year I’m sharing that system with you in the form of a Christmas challenge so that you can create a Christmas LESS stressful and MORE enjoyable too!
Introducing the 30 Days to a Stress-Free Christmas challenge…
Over the next 30 days, I’ll be sharing a brand-new Christmas-related challenge each day for you to complete right here on the blog. A Christmas challenge that’s quick and easy and only takes a few minutes to do but will make your Christmas planning a breeze. Designed to help you enjoy a calmer run up without the last-minute rush, some challenges will have actionable steps you can implement right away, others will just be something for you to think about.

There’ll be no last-minute panic, no staying up until midnight wrapping presents and no being in the kitchen on your own Christmas Eve listening to everyone else having fun. Instead, you’ll be right there with them enjoying all the festivities and getting into the Christmas spirit too because everything will have been taken care of!
The #1 secret to a stress-free Christmas…
Now you might be thinking that it’s way too early to start planning Christmas now but I’ll let you into a little secret…the earlier you start, the better! Starting early is THE number one secret to a stress-free Christmas. The earlier you start, the less stressed you will feel. The earlier you start, the more time you have to think about what you need to do to make Christmas happen.
And what better way to start early than with a Christmas challenge!
Consider this Christmas challenge your guide to tell you what you need to do when. No more running around in circles feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Just follow the challenge, complete the steps and come the end of the month, you’ll have nailed all things Christmas!
Christmas challenge ground rules…
Challenges are a whole lot easier when there are a few ground rules, right?! So, here are the ground rules for this Christmas challenge. Want to get the best results and make this Christmas your BEST Christmas yet? Just follow these rules!
Ground Rule #1: Check-in every day
Come back to the blog every day to see what new challenge awaits you. I’ll be sharing them in my Facebook group too. So, if you’re not already a member, head on over and join the Facebook group now!
Ground Rule #2: Set aside time to complete each challenge
You’ll need no more than 20-30 minutes to complete each Christmas challenge but if you intentionally set aside time each day to do it, you’re more likely to get it done. Ask yourself when is best and block out that time in your diary. Don’t pick a time when you know you’re going to be busy! For me, my best time is that first half an hour or so once my youngest is in bed. When is best for you?
Ground Rule #3: Use a notebook
There’s so much to remember, so carry around a notebook with you so that you have somewhere to jot all your thoughts down. Having it all on paper will help you to think more clearly too!
Ground Rule #4: Don’t be afraid to ask for help!
There might be a lot to organise when it comes to making Christmas happen but that doesn’t mean you have to do it all yourself. If there’s something you can delegate, do it! Don’t be afraid of asking others to help you. Make it a family affair where you can!
Ground Rule #5: Keep your eye on the bigger picture
Finally, I want you to promise that you’ll keep your eye on the bigger picture. That you won’t try to push yourself to organise a Christmas that stresses you out. Remember that Christmas doesn’t have to be a perfectly executed military operation for it to be great!
