Do you find it hard to get organised at home and STAY organised? Me too. I try really hard to stay on top of things, but it doesn’t always go to plan. Mainly because my memory is rubbish! There was a time where I didn’t need to write anything down and I always remembered what had to be done when. Now though, unless I’ve put pen to paper, it doesn’t happen. Sometimes, even though it’s written down, it still doesn’t get done because I forget to look at my diary! Staying organised and on top of things isn’t as easy as it used to be!
Although my youngest tells me it’s because I’m nearly 40 (which, according to him, is REALLY OLD!), I think it’s more to do with the fact that these days, life is just SO busy. With school runs, housework, after-school clubs, food shopping, work, dentist and optician appointments, there’s SO MUCH going on. As a busy mum trying to juggle it all, finding ways to get organised at home and STAY organised can be a real challenge!

How to get organised at home and STAY organised…
Putting birthdays, anniversaries and holidays into our diaries and onto our calendars is just the start. There’s also check-ups to book, cars to service, gifts to buy, bills to pay and holidays to plan and book. The list goes on. And on. There’s SO much to sort out and take care of throughout the year. How do we make sure everything gets done when it needs to? How do we get organised at home and STAY organised?
By having a plan!
If we want to stay sane, us mums HAVE to have a plan. We have to have a system in place that keeps us in check. A system that helps us to get all those ‘mum’ jobs done and remember what we need to do when. Without a plan, we’re just chasing our tails hoping for the best. Hoping that one of the plates we’re spinning doesn’t get mislaid, forgotten, left behind or worse, come crashing down.

So what’s the plan?!
If like me, you’re a busy mum who sometimes feels a tad overwhelmed by all the things you need to remember and do, I have something that’s about to make your life SO much easier. I’m going to share with you what I’m calling my Busy Mum’s Master Plan. A master calendar, schedule and planner all rolled into one, it’s going to help you get organised at home and STAY organised this year – and every year from now on!
All that’s required is a notebook, pen, your diary and a couple of free evenings (and preferably a glass of wine!). Once you’ve set everything up, simply check in on your diary once a week and you’re good to go. The best part is once it’s done, it’s done! You only need to do this once. Every year from hereafter will be a piece of cake because you’ve already done the legwork! Sounds good, doesn’t it?! Want to know more? Keep reading!
The Busy Mum’s Master Plan…
I’m betting you have a list of dates and events (birthdays, anniversaries, school holidays etc.) that take place every year? And that you have a handful of tasks and activities you repeat each year too? You book the same routine check-ups. The home and car insurances get renewed. You vaccinate your pets. And every year you carry out the same home maintenance tasks too. You might not have it all written down, but it’s taking up valuable space at the back of your mind.
Well, it’s time offload everything you’re trying to remember! It’s time to automate it all and put those tasks on autopilot so you no longer have to remember when you need to do them. AND you’re going to schedule them in advance so there’s no last-minute panic or dropping the ball!
It’s time to get organised at home and STAY organised!
Are you ready?! Let’s get started! First, put the kids to bed. Pour that glass of wine and grab your diary. Then:
- Download your copy of my FREE Busy Mum’s MASTER Plan planner. In it, you’ll find ALL the essential ‘mum’ tasks you could possibly think of – conveniently organised month by month.
- Add any additional ‘mum’ tasks unique to your own family.
- Enter EVERYTHING into your diary in the relevant month and/or week.
- Check in on your diary once a week – a Sunday night always works well. Make a list of all the tasks that need doing that week and get them done!

The benefits of doing it like this…
There are SO many! Having used this system for a good couple of years now, it really does help you get organised at home and STAY organised. On the few occasions I’ve let things slip (because I’m only human too!), I really notice the difference. BUT as soon as I jump back on the MASTER Plan bandwagon, life instantly becomes easier to manage again.
Not only is this system simple, it’s EASY to implement, EASY to maintain AND it WORKS! Here are the benefits:
- It can be implemented ANY time of the year.
- You won’t need to worry about remembering what to do when – it’s all there ready for you.
- It keeps the overwhelm at bay.
- You’ll be able to think more clearly and focus on the task at hand.
- You’ll be more productive with your time instead of just ‘busy’ because you have a plan.
- Life becomes easier to manage.
- The time you spend with family becomes more intentional.
- You save money because bills aren’t forgotten. There’s no more last-minute panic purchases either.
- Come the end of the year, simply transfer everything across to your new diary. Hey presto – you’re good to go!
Staying organised…
Getting organised is one thing, STAYING organised is something else! But if we’re intentional with our planning, if we spend time thinking about what we need to do in advance, we can save ourselves from a LOT of headache. Yes, it will take you a couple of evenings to get sorted, but I promise you it’s worth the investment.
Once it’s done, it’s done and it really WILL help you to get organised at home and STAY organised. Never again will you forget a friend’s birthday or forget to pay a bill on time. Nor will you have to try and remember 101 things at once. Use this system and life will become LESS stressful and MORE enjoyable – I promise!
