MY FIVE FAVOURITE FRIDAY FINDS: JANUARY 24th
BOOK OF THE WEEK: The Big Book of 30-Day Challenges
Thirty-day challenges are an incredibly effective way to take control of your life. Allowing you to dive deep into one specific area, they help you push past procrastination and take action. Which is why I’ve chosen 30-day challenges as one of the themes for the blog in 2020.
Each month, I’ll be revealing a brand-new 30-day challenge for you to join. Challenges that will help you to become more productive, practice gratitude and mindfulness, feel happier and much more.
And so, with that in mind, for this week’s book of the week, I thought I would share one of the books that inspired me to focus on 30-day challenges as a theme for 2020.
What is it? The Big Book of 30-Day Challenges!
The big book of 30-day challenges…
With 60 different habit-forming 30-day challenges, not only will this book help you to take control of your life, it’ll help you to live a better life too. Colourful and easy to navigate, the challenges can be done in any order you like. Simply flick through and pick whichever challenges take your fancy the most.
Want to eat smarter? Focus on your friendships? Strengthen family bonds? Kick your bad habits? Maximise your productivity? This book will help! With simple rules to follow and lots of tips for following each challenge through, it shows you how to:
- Get better sleep.
- Meditate for ten minutes a day.
- Get rid of clutter.
- Eat three home-cooked meals a day.
- Track your expenses.
- Enjoy 30 minutes of family time a day.
- Read 20 pages a day.
- and much more!
I’m currently working my way through challenge #14 – eating a healthy breakfast each morning. And for next month, I’m thinking of giving challenge #21 – spending 30 minutes outdoors every day – a try. If you want to be more intentional about how you live your life and take back control, this book of 30-day challenges is a great starting point. Plus, it’s fun that the whole family can get involved in too!

PODCAST OF THE WEEK: Do It Scared – Episode #3: How to stop listening to that voice in your head that says you can’t
Have you ever been held back by thoughts in your head that tell you’re not good enough? If so, I’m right there with you. I know EXACTLY what it’s like to be paralysed by negative thoughts in my head. Thoughts that tell me I’m not good enough. That I’m not smart enough. Or capable enough. That I don’t deserve to have what I have or be who I want to be.
Those negative thoughts – also known as limiting-beliefs – have held me back and stopped me from chasing my dreams more times than I can tell you. Even though half the time, I know they’re not actually true!
If it’s the same for you too, you might just want to give this week’s podcast a listen. Because in it, Ruth Soukup – the founder of Living Well, Spending Less – shares three simple strategies that will help you to stop listening to the voice in your head says you can’t so that you can push past your limiting beliefs.
Taking control of your life…
If you want to have more control over your life, you need to take control of your thoughts as well as your actions. Because mindset is everything. Especially when it comes to accomplishing your goals and creating a life you love. And in this week’s podcast, Ruth shows you how to do just that.
Taking control of your negative thoughts…
It’s been a work in progress, but I’m finally learning to push past those limiting beliefs. To turn them on their head. To feel the fear and do whatever it is that I want to do anyway. It’s scary but each time it gets a little bit easier. Want to know what the limiting beliefs that hold me back are? I’ll be sharing them in a future post…so be sure to keep an eye out.
In the meantime, if you struggle with this too and want to take control of your life by pushing past your limiting beliefs, make sure you give this episode of the Doing It Scared podcast a listen. I promise it’ll help!
