I LOVE to journal…
Journaling is BY FAR one of my most favourite habits and hobbies. There’s nothing I like more than curling up in the chair first thing in the morning with my journal, a pen and a giant mug of coffee. Those first few minutes to myself before everyone else wakes up are just bliss!
I have a few journals I like to use including the Happiness Planner and the 52 Lists series (if you’ve not checked them out yet, I highly recommend them!). But if you’ve been following me for a while (or you’re a member of the A Simple and Contented Life community), you’ll know that I like to create my own journaling printables too!

Getting inspired…
Always on the lookout of new journaling printables to make and share with you, my go-to places for inspiration are without a doubt Pinterest and Instagram. My favourite accounts by far have got to be boho.berry and vialdesigns (if you’re not already following them, you should be!). I just LOVE their bullet journal layouts. Maria from Vial Designs has some great calligraphy video tutorials, lettering challenges and journaling exercises too.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to bullet journal like Kara and Maira but my attempts never look anything like theirs. Sadly, I’m just not that clever with a pen! And so, I prefer to create my journaling printables on my PC and print them instead. For me, it’s much easier – plus, it saves me from being embarrassed by my bad drawing attempts too! I’ll create them in Canva or PowerPoint before uploading them to the A Simple and Contented Life subscriber’s Resource Library. I then print them in A5 and add them to my favourite Paperchase planner.
A new journaling pages printable…
During my most recent hunt for new journaling exercises to try, I discovered my_blue_sky_design. And her bullet journal designs are just AMAZING, I could literally scroll through them for hours! My absolute favourite bullet journaling exercise has to be her monthly “Currently… Happening in life” bullet journal spread.
Micha uses it to record all the things going on in her life that month including what she’s loving, eating, seeing and doing. It’s such a great way to record how you’re spending your time each month! I think it’s a lovely way to look back and practice gratitude for the things you did or experienced too. Especially as it’s so easy to forget all the little things we do that make us happy!
Come December, it would be great to look back and see my whole year at a glance on a spread like this. And it would really help me to review my year and set more intentional goals for next year too. But I could never make it look as good as Micha’s – or the other designs I’ve seen on Pinterest! And knowing that there are other topics I would want to include on mine, I decided to create my own version of this journaling exercise. And in this post, I’m sharing it with you so that you can download and use it too!
Introducing my This Month I’m… journaling pages printable
When creating it, I asked myself what I would like to make a note of each month? What would I like to look back on and remember? And what would I like to review come the end of the year? Here’s what I came up with…This month I’m:
- Grateful for…
- Looking forward to…
- Hanging out with…
- Smiling about…
- Working on…
- Saving for…
- Missing…
- Craving…
- Binge watching…
- Listening to…
- Learning…
- Decluttering…
I may change the topics at some point but for now, I’m going with these. I want to see how I’m spending my time, what’s lighting me up and what my priorities are each month and I think these categories will help. And if you’re looking to be more intentional about how you spend your time, I know they’ll help you too!
I’ve created two designs for you to choose from. To download your copy simply enter your email address below and I’ll send it to you right away!
BONUS: A This Month I’m… journaling pages printable for your child too!
Whilst creating this journaling printable, I thought it would be great for my youngest, Harrison, to fill out something similar too. He’s learning and discovering new things all the time. It would be lovely to have a record for both he and I to look back on of what he’s accomplished each month. And so, I created a version for him too! Here’s what I came up with for him…This month I’m:
- Grateful for…
- Excited about…
- Hanging out with…
- Happy about…
- Learning about…
- Exploring…
- Reading…
- Playing…
- Making…
- Watching…
- Eating…
- Next month I want to…
Want to get your hands on a copy? Download the This Month I’m… printable for yourself and as a bonus, you’ll get a copy of Harrison’s printable for you to use with your child too!
